A Long Walk to Water:Based on a True Story

Linda Sue Park

The New York Times bestseller A Long Walk to Water begins as two stories, told in alternating sections, about two eleven-year-olds in Sudan, a girl in 2008 and a boy in 1985. The girl, Nya, is fetching water from a pond that is two hours’ walk from her home: she makes two trips to the pond every day. The boy, Salva, becomes one of the "lost boys" of Sudan, refugees who cover the African continent on foot as they search for their families and for a safe place to stay. Enduring every hardship from loneliness to attack by armed rebels to contact with killer lions and crocodiles, Salva is a survivor, and his story goes on to intersect with Nya's in az astonishing and moving way.

Multiculturalism

I just got told I shouldn’t listen to Hip-hop because I’m white
This to me is madness
I guess because I’m more knowledgeable than him on it he thought it wasn’t right
He couldn’t even answer me who made the albums straight outta Compton or Illmatic

Nick Nwolisa: “What I really love in life: My family!”

Mr. Nwolisa has lived in Azerbaijan for many years and has a vast connection with very important and strategic businesses. He has worked in several business spheres and organizations and has contributed to the growth of numerous businesses in different industries. He has a well-rounded network with in developing / emerging markets.

Nick Nwolisa: Travelling and discovering different cultures and learning new languages was always very central in my life and accompanies me until now. So, after having lived for some time in Azerbaijan, I’m currently living again in Azerbaijan. For a living I work for NGOs, where I usually work in different project teams all around Azerbaijan  to consult companies with their businesses and entrepreneurs  issues. There is so much that interest me and which I find inspiring. The world offers just so many wonderful things and moments and I enjoy to experience as much of it as possible. Out of those things the following is what I really like to do: Meeting up with friends, having diverse conversations, writing in many ways, cross-literature reading, traveling and philosophising about cultural identity, migration/integration, diversity and everything that belongs to a multicultural world.

What I really love in life: My family! My wife is from Azerbaijan  and together we founded a new life together in (for now) Azerbaijan. We were given the most wonderful present on earth: Our Children!”

What is the “Canadian Diversity Model?”

                      Dr. Nazila Isgandarova

Canada’s cultural diversity is the direct result of the immigration policies. It also reflects how far Canada opens its doors to newcomers, and to which newcomers. It depends on the country’s current economic needs, resources, and security concerns. For instance, after September 11, the Canadians feel more affinity with Americans and have more concern about immigration and boarder security. However, Canadians have more optimistic view of immigration than Americans and this may be based on the contributions that immigrants make to the Canadian society.
